Pyrite has a Mohs hardness of 6–6.5 but contains iron sulphide, so it must never be placed in water — it will oxidise, tarnish and eventually crumble. Cleanse with sage smoke, selenite charging, brief sunlight (which energises this solar stone), sound vibrations or dry brown rice. Always keep pyrite dry and store in a moisture-free environment wrapped in soft cloth. Avoid touching with wet hands.
