Iolite has a Mohs hardness of 7–7.5 and can be safely rinsed under lukewarm water. Dry with a soft cloth. For energetic cleansing, moonlight is particularly effective for this intuitive stone. Selenite charging, sage smoke and sound cleansing also work well. Avoid harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners, as iolite can have natural cleavage planes. Store in a soft pouch.
