Apatite is relatively soft (5 Mohs) and sensitive to water, so avoid prolonged soaking. A very brief rinse under lukewarm water is acceptable if you dry it immediately, but smoke cleansing with sage, moonlight bathing or selenite charging are safer options. Avoid saltwater, chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners and heat. Apatite can be brittle, so store it separately from harder stones in a padded pouch or lined box.
