Apache tear has a Mohs hardness of 5–5.5, making brief rinses under lukewarm water acceptable. Dry immediately with a soft cloth. For deeper cleansing, moonlight, selenite charging and sage smoke are preferred. Sound cleansing with a singing bowl also works well. Avoid saltwater and prolonged soaking. Store wrapped in a soft cloth, as these delicate obsidian nodules can chip or crack if knocked against harder stones.
